YY Milestones - 20 mth

It's YY's 1st week of her 20 mths old phase. Tot it would be good to track her milestones on blog record...

20 months
• Feeds doll - chk! She not only feed her soft toy monkey, she made him wear her diaper!
• Takes off own clothes - half chk! She only know how to wear her shorts, she has not displayed any signs of stripping yet...
• Dumps an object in imitation, such as throwing garbage away - chk! She loves to throw things in the bin!
• Learns words at a rate of ten or more a day - chk! She is spongebob!
• Can walk up stairs (but probably not down) - half-chk! With assistance but it's been a while I checked her.
• May start exploring genitals - chk! she will explore hers when it itches..
• Draws a straight line - chk! crookedly straight line she draws
• Names several body parts - double, triple chk! She can name all her body parts all the way down to her toes since she was 1 yr old!

Additional stuff she learnt in her entire 19th month:
- Associate two persons together : if papa comes and pick her alone, she will ask, 'Mummy leh?' If she sees my bro-in-law alone, she will ask, 'Ah mm, leh?'
- Converse using hp : now she knows that the sound from the hp is actually voices and she can talk to it.
- Wear and take off shoes on her own: She wears and takes off her shoes like how the adults do, standing
while doing it!
- Showing emotions (ε–œζ€’ε“€δΉ): not very dramatic, but au naturel performance from this kiddo!

Stranger Anxiety

Xuan and Wei are 3 months, 4 weeks old now. They are now in the phase of stranger anxiety (SA)...

I brought Xuan to my mum-in-law's place on Fri nite. Wei was already there as she was taken care by my MIL.

Xuan was sleepy and fell asleep soon after we reached the place. Wei just woke up and was happily lying on her back, smiling and playing with my PILs.

Then Xuan woke up to see herself in an unfamiliar place, she looked a bit confused. MIL carried her and tried to coax her smile.

Then it happened.

Xuan started crying. Her cries became wailing. Tears started streaming down her chubby red cheeks, she cried so loud that we were all shell-shocked. But she could not be pacified even after I carried her away. There was a moment she cried with no sound from her mouth. This was it. I could not bear it. I carried her out of my MIL's place, managed to calm her down then...

We tried again. My MIL carried her again. She started wailing again. We were terrified. My MIL handed her to me again and I had a hard time calming her down.

This was the 1st time I experienced this with my babies. I recalled I did not experienced that with YY coz she's a very friendly baby.

I tot Xuan was different and that she was very smart to realise that she was in an unfamiliar place and someone unfamiliar was carrying her.

I was wrong. It turns out that Wei was also suffering from SA...

Two days later, I brought the twins to my mum's place.

Wei was noticeably unhappy to be there. The normally-smiley baby was not smiling. Her lips started to quiver and her eyebrows and eyes started to turn red.

Then it happened. Wei started to cry. It was a very loud, screeching cry, just like what Xuan did at my MIL place. Not the usual 'I wan milk'/ 'I wan to sleep' cry.

I calmed her down immediately when I carried her from my dad's hands.

Wei wei also suffered from SA. Luckily for her, it might be lesser coz I sleep with her during nights. She stopped crying almost immediately when I carried her.

Poor Xuan...she sleeps with my mum at nite and might not be as close to me as Wei.

I wonder when they would grow out of this SA...I hope they do so soon... if not, I may ve to bring them both back to sleep....

Things kids do

Last nite, my lil' fishball (yy) stuffed my work bag into the gap between my fridge and the wall.

God knows what had clinged onto my bag as I dun recall cleaning that gap at all since I moved in. Wait a min...I dun even rem noticing the gap!

Then I caught her trying to disassemble the ant killer and a while later putting a little toy piece in her mouth.

Life is a blur....

6 months have passed since I updated my blog.

Lemme see....hmmm...how my life has evolved since I started this blog.

I started the blog in Jan 2006.

3 years and 5 months later, I got married to a wonderful man, moved house twice, bought a car and gave birth to 3 adorable daughters.

I thought life would be less hectic and active and I would have lesser to worry as I grow older,

but I was wrong...it seems to get more packed and I got more things to worry in my mind now.

It's tough to find time for me and mr Fat, not to mention a little 'me' time for myself.

I guess this is another phase of my life.

As a mother of three, a wife to an equally frazzled man, a daughter to two sets of parents, life can be so hectic that everything and everyday seems like a blur and simple pleasures such as savouring a bowl of piping hot laksa slowly can make me so happy..

I sometimes shout in silence, tell myself in my mind;

Eileen, you can do it! Jiayou!

Or look at photos of my babies for motivation and....

tell myself,
It's all worth it!

Busy Nov

Nov is a busy month for me at work...every weekend is packed with events...

My desk is very cluttered and I need to spend at least 2 days tidying up my filing...maybe I will do that in dec...sigh....

Nov is also a busy month for me for my personal events....I m moving house this month!!! On top of all these, I m worrying about my twins...they are so much smaller than yy at 21 weeks..one of them even had measurement that falls out of the normal range!

So worried :(

Had to tell myself to take it easy...

All my troubles momentarily went away whenever I see her....
